Free Advice
Initially we will provide free legal advice. This is because not only are the cases which we deal with complicated but also issues regarding the funding of your case can be complex. We therefore seek to provide reassurance at an early stage as we recognise that this is an important area for our clients. Lesley Casey is involved in a lot of work which is initially carried out for free because in cases where a compensation claim cannot be made, as not all accidents are negligent, we will do all that we can to assist in providing what other specialist advice is required as once a person has left the military, they can often receive inadequate or no advice.
Extra Help
When there may not be a legal claim, we will try to help service personnel as much as we can as we also offer advice regarding mental health, education, public law, inquiry's and investigations.
Funding alternatives
In any personal injury case we start by carrying out a full assessment of your claim. Following this we will discuss the funding alternatives available to you and then investigate the issues by obtaining the relevant medical records and independent expert opinions as to how an accident happened, and the injuries sustained and their long term effect upon the injured person.
When the results of the initial investigation and/or Board of Inquiry are available, this will enable us to advise you to proceed with a claim then we will discuss the funding alternatives available to you.
There are three main ways of funding your personal injury claim:- Legal Expense Insurance - you may have insurance to cover legal claims included in an insurance policy, such as PAX, Home Contents Insurance or Credit Card Insurance. If you do have this cover you will need to contact your Insurers in order to obtain a claim form. Once the insurers are satisfied as to the merits of any claim you wish to bring your legal costs will usually be covered under this insurance
- Private funding - the cost of privately funding your claim will vary depending on the complexity of your case
- Conditional Fee Agreement - No Win No Fee or After the Event Insurance
- How your claim will proceed
- Potential damages (compensation) you could expect to recover if your claim is successful
- Potential difficulties or strengths in your claim
- Timescales for action with regard to your case
