If a family member has died from an asbestos related illness, certain members of the family may be able to bring a claim under the Fatal Accidents Act 1976 and the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1934 on behalf of the estate and themselves. It may be possible to claim for the pain and suffering which the deceased had to endure prior to their death together with a claim for loss of financial dependency, loss of services and statutory bereavement damages.

The time limit for bringing such a claim is normally 3 years from the date of the person's death although it is important that you obtain legal advice as soon as possible.

If a person dies as a result of an asbestos related disease, an Inquest will be held. We are able to assist by liaising with a Coroner and appearing at an Inquest on your behalf.
