We understand that the Council are now in the process of making offers of alternative accommodation to those who fulfil the criteria set by the Primary Care Trust.

We understand that the Council are now prepared to offer the following alternatives:-

1.Rent free furnished or unfurnished properties (either council or private properties) with payment of gas, electricity and water bills, with a one-off payment of £200 as contribution towards relocation expenses/any additional purchases that you may need to make.

2.A contribution towards paying a private landlord, based on the rate that the Council would pay to a private landlord, (for a 3 bedroomed house this would work out at £84 a week). In addition, the Council are offering a £200 one-off payment. If the property is unfurnished, the Council is prepared to increase the £200 payment to cover the cost of moving additional furniture etc. The Council will also pay the deposit.

3.If you move in with family or friends, the Council will pay you the same amount that you would have paid to a private landlord, plus a £200 one-off payment but will not make any contribution to utility bills.

4.In addition, the Council may offer assistance with travel expenses if relocation means that more costs would be incurred. This may be in the form of a petrol allowance, bus passes or taxis through a contract with a taxi firm.

If you meet the criteria set by the Primary Care Trust for relocation, and you have not yet been contacted by the Council, we suggest that you do so as soon as possible, and ask them to make you an offer based on the alternatives set out above.

Please make us aware of any accommodation alternatives that the Council have offered which are substantially different from those set out above,.
