A man has spoken out about the dangers of gastric bypass surgery after his wife died after having the operation.

At the Inquest into her death the coroner said that she died from peritonitis - a kidney infection, following complications that arose after the elective intra-abdominal surgery.

The lady decided to have surgery after trying dieting and an anti-obesity drug.

Her husband urged other women to consider other options before going under the knife.

His wife died in January after developing the infection after the surgery at Hull and East Riding Hospital.
