Alexander Harris are firmly increasing their presence in the Midlands with the expansion of their clinical negligence and personal injury teams.

Recognised as one of the UK's leading health law firms Alexander Harris opened its doors in Solihull in 2002 to provide a closer service to its existing and future clients in the West Midlands. Accelerating the pace, the office is strongly competing against the firms already established offices in Manchester and London.

The Solihull office has had an 83% increase in the number of cases taken on in the financial year of 2003. The mounting caseloads have prompted a Midlands recruitment drive and a series of notable appointments will be made over the next two months that will impact on the legal league tables in the West Midlands.

'Doubling in Size'
Head of the Solihull office Richard Follis said, "The office is going from strength to strength and our team is set to double in size in the coming months. We are on the verge of running out of office space completely and will move to larger premises on Warwick Road, Solihull this month to accommodate everyone."

New Arrivals
The personal injury team at Alexander Harris saw a 41% increase in the number of cases entering the firm in the financial year 2003; cases involving injuries sustained either in the UK or overseas.

Last year the expertise of our lawyers were called upon by holidaymakers who were struck down by the debilitating illness Cryptosporidium at the Alcudia Pins hotel in Majorca. In excess of 1300 claimants are pursuing action against Airtours after they suffered severe vomiting and diarrhoea. Guests had complained about the state of the hotel pool, which was tested and confirmed to contain the waterborne parasite Cryptosporidium.

In order to expand this area further we have established aPhotograph of Head of the International Travel Litigation team and Associate Simon Taylor new department in our Solihull office dedicated to International Travel Litigation. The new team is headed by Associate Simon Taylor who is supported by two of his colleagues. The team join from Irwin Mitchell, Birmingham.

The team has great experience in dealing with individual claims and large multiparty actions, which involve hundreds of claimants who have suffered injury or illness whilst overseas.

Some of the actions the team have handled have been amongst the largest of their kind ever pursued in the UK resulting in multi-million pound settlements.

Travel litigation is a challenging speciality in which the boundaries of the existing law are pushed and new law ensued. Actions can involve highly contested mediation and negotiations.

The new department will formalise and build upon our expertise, stretching our reputation as leaders in all aspects of personal injury.
