Shirley was visiting a furniture superstore and was in the display area of the three-piece suite collections when she fell down an unmarked step.
The step was approximately 7 inches deep and was not clearly marked or lit. There was no handrail or obvious signs that it was there.
Shirley sustained severe bruising to her ribs, left shoulder and back. She also suffered a hairline fracture of her left femur that required fixing with two pins. This caused her considerable pain and discomfort. In addition she sustained headaches, anxiety and distress following the accident.
Shirley approached specialist personal injury solicitors, Alexander Harris. The firm pursued Shirley's claim for compensation and reached an early settlement of £11,500.
