
The final report of the Shipman Inquiry, published today concludes that Harold Shipman killed up to 15 patients in his early career.
Dame Janet Smith said that the former Hyde GP probably killed between 10 and 15 patients at Pontefract General Hospital, where he worked as a junior doctor in the 1970s. This increases the estimated number of his victims to 250.
On conclusion of the report Dame Janet said: "With this sixth report I believe that the Inquiry has finally provided as complete a picture of Shipman's activity as it would be possible to give."
