M25 Minibus Crash
The minibus passengers were all travelling in the cab of the recovery vehicle. Only one passenger survived the collision and is being treated in hospital for a broken leg and facial injuries.
A group of 13 men, thought to be aged between 25 and 30, had been celebrating a 'stag party' in Leicestershire. They were making their way home to Brighton when the bus broke down on the M1. One of the occupants called the AA and they were collected by a recovery truck from Dunchurch Hire in Rugby. Seven of the men were collected by another vehicle and travelled safely home to Brighton. The driver of the HGV, which appeared undamaged in the collision, was uninjured. He is being treated as a witness and has been helping police with their enquiries.
The Chief Superintendent has said that this is on the worst collision the Surrey Police has dealt with on the M25.
The cause of the accident is currently unclear but a thorough investigation is being undertaken by the Surrey Police Collision Investigation team and they hope to be able to report within a matter of days.
