Sarah, an elderly lady in her eighties, was out shopping at a furniture store when she tripped over an unmarked step and fell down, severely bruising her back, shoulder, and ribs. She also suffered a hairline fracture of her thigh.
Following the event Sarah suffered from headaches and anxiety.
Solicitor Matt Garson represented Sarah and settled her personal injury claim for nearly £12 000.
He said:
"Sarah has suffered unduly after a heavy fall. It is regrettable that there were no precautions in place, like a handrail, which would have helped to prevent her fall in the first place.
