Scott was on his way to the gym when he stopped to say hello to a friend. They stood chatting on the pavement at the corner of the road.

Appearing on GMTV today to tell his story, Scott told presenters Fern and Phillip how a speeding driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a lampost next to where they were standing.

The car crashed into Scott, pinning him against the wall. He was taken to hospital in severe pain.

As a result of the accident Scott had to have his left leg amputated below the knee. His right leg was also seriously injured. He can't walk and now uses a wheelchair.

Jonathan Betts, Scott's solicitor negotiated an interim payment for Scott under the rehabilitation code of best practice. This has enabled Scott to have an extension built on the side of his house, to buy a specialist wheelchair, and to buy a car specially adapted for his needs.
