A young man has died after developing an asbestos related cancer as a result of coming into contact with dust on his stepfather's clothes when he was younger.

His stepfather had worked at the Isle of Grain power station in Kent as a scaffolderduring the 1970s, coming into contact with asbestos on a daily basis.

The man, who has a wife and three daughters, died of mesothelioma; a fatal form of cancer that attacks the lining of the lungs.

In the UK the only known cause is exposure to asbestos, which needs to be present only in small amounts.

His wife will be pursuing the claim against the scaffolding company, begun by her husband before his death.

The period between exposure to asbestos and development of the condition can be from 10 to 50 years.

The family have asked that any other people who worked at the Isle of Grain power station in Kent at the time come forward.
