Mesothelioma legal action
We represented Mr S for legal action against Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Mr S worked for the council as a general foreman and later as Works Supervisor and senior manager. Mr S was exposed to asbestos when supervising the cutting of asbestos sheeting, removal of asbestos lagged pipe work, removal of asbestos ceiling tiles and asbestos panelling.
Fatal asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma
Mr S had a routine health check at the end of 2003. He had an x-ray and was referred to hospital where he was diagnosed, early in 2004, as suffering from the fatal asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma. Sadly, Mr S died in August 2004, aged 59.
The claim continued in the names of Mr S and his partner, after his death. We were able to settle the claim by negotiation for £198,000 in August 2006.
