Following a diagnosis of breast cancer in situ, also known as carcinoma, Jane had a mastectomy operation.
Two years later she developed back pain and was diagnosed with breast secondaries in her spine.
After review of the earlier tests, it was discovered that she did in fact have an invasive cancer. This should have been treated with chemotherapy as well as the mastectomy operation.
If Jane has been treated appropriately for invasive breast cancer it is likely that the cancer would have been cured.
Now she has a much reduced life expectation and can expect the cancer to spread further.
Clinical negligence lawyer Sue Taylor successfully settled Jane's case.
