Clinical negligence claim - Mother killed by epidural jab put in the wrong place

After being given an epidural injection in her arm instead of her spine, theatre nurse Mayra Cabrera, 30, died within an hour after giving birth to son, Zac, at Great Western Hospital, Swindon.

Her husband Arnel, 37, said: "My wife was my life. She was everything to me."

Arnel added: "She gave birth to our son and I was holding him in my arms and then things happened all at once. She had a seizure and the crash team came in. I told Mayra I loved her and she said she loved me. They were her last words."

Epidural injected in arm

An inquiry was launched by Wiltshire police and found that the epidural anaesthetic had been injected into Mayra's arm.

The Swindon and Marlborough NHS admitted liability.
