A former Liverpool GP is being investigated for misconductbefore a General Medical Council (GMC) Fitness to Practice panel.

Dr Anthony Chyc is accused of inappropriate and improper conduct relating to female patients.

Allegations also include failure to treat or to refer for treatment.

The charges also relate to the general administration of the practice.

He is accused of serious and systematic failings which had the potential to put patients at risk.

He faces charges involving over eighty patients.

He has admitted several charges of failing to refer patients and failing to file medical documents.

Anthony Chyc worked at Croxpeth Hall Lane Medical Centre in Liverpool between September 1989 and September 1991.

He also worked at the Hawthorn Surgery, St Edmunds Primary Care Centre, in Colchester between January 1997 and February 2003.

The charges include failure to refer a patient for a brain scan, and failure to refer a patient for a sterilisation.

Under the misconduct route - involving a Fitness to Practice hearing, Chyc can be suspended for a period of time, ordered to re-train,or effectively suspended indefinitely.He cannot be struck off the medical register.

The hearing is expected to finish in July.
