When Aisha was one and a half, her parents, Shazia and Haseeb, noticed that she had severe diarrhoea and had been vomiting. They consequently took her to hospital and an intravenous drip was inserted into her foot to enable rehydration.
During the night, Aisha banged her foot and her drip became dislodged. Despite her screams, medical staff failed to notice this and the fluid was pumped into Aisha's foot throughout the night causing extensive skin and tissue damage.
Aisha had to have surgery to remove the dead skin and a skin graft was used which left scarring and decreased sensation in her foot.
Medical Negligence Solicitor
A claim against the local NHS Trust was pursued by Haseeb and Shazia on behalf of Aisha and medical negligence solicitor Lindsay Gibb was instructed. The claim was successful and £20,000 was awarded, with Lindsay's assistance.
