Mr H consulted his GP after suffering neck pain. The pain continued despite treatment and physiotherapy. He was referred to a specialist who discovered he was suffering from tuberculosis. A delay in diagnosis of several months had resulted in a right-sided sensorineural deafness. By the time tuberculosis was discovered, surgical reconstruction of the middle ear was not possible. Sensorineural loss would have been avoided if tuberculosis therapy had been commenced earlier. Mr H's case settled for £25,000.
