Dennis was misdiagnosed with a malignant tumour of the left lung in December 2003 before proper investigations were carried out. Three weeks later following the results of the investigations Dennis was told that he did not have cancer.

A month later he was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis and began to take medication and was told three days later that his test results had been mixed up and that he did not have tuberculosis.

Dennis and his wife were extremely traumatised and emotionally stressed at the news, on two occasions, that he had terminal diseases which in fact had been misdiagnosed.

The fast track case was settled after the defendants made an early admission of liability.
