Our Expertise
Alexander Harris are a national firm specialising exclusively in claimant health law and in particular catastrophic injury. We are recognised as a leading firm in this niche area by other lawyers, the medical profession, the insurance industry and many head injury organisations including Headway.
It is quite possible that you have never had to consult a specialist solicitor before. You might have instructed a solicitor when you moved house or to prepare a will; or even for a minor injury claim. However brain injury
claims are quite different and it is vital that you have a solicitor with specialist expertise and experience. After all, the defendant is likely to instruct a specialist solicitor to deal with the claim and you need to be on an equal footing from the start.
It is equally important that you feel comfortable with your solicitor. It can take several years for the effect of a serious brain injury to be fully known and sometimes even longer for a compensation claim to be completed. Your solicitor will be able to identify what, if any, permanent problems you are left with as a result of the brain injury and pursue your case accordingly.
You will be entering into a long relationship with your solicitor and it is important for you and your family that there is minimum stress for you during this time. Choosing the right solicitor can not only help you through this difficult period but in some cases it can mean the difference between winning and losing your case or of many thousands of pounds in compensation.
Joe's Story - Specialists can make an incredible difference!
Joe was eating his breakfast in a roadside café when a van veered off the road ploughing into the side of the café. Joe sustained severe injuries along with a minor head injury and spent many months recovering in hospital. Joe sought advice from his local solicitors who wanted to settle his claim for £20,000. He gained a second opinion from the specialist catastrophic injury team at Alexander Harris who subsequently settled his case for £850,000. His local solicitors had failed to recognise that Joe's minor head injury had in fact left him with frontal lobe brain damage - the results of which were physically subtle but psychologically life altering.
Type of claims
We handle all types of brain injury claims including:
- Road traffic accidents
- Criminal Injuries Compensation Claims
- Accidents abroad
- Clinical Negligence
- Claims for military personnel

A word of caution - Time Limits
Generally claims for personal injury must be made within three years from the date of an accident, however this can vary if you are injured as a result of a criminal act or if you are injured whilst overseas. It is therefore vital that you contact a specialist solicitor as soon as possible.
Where the injured person is a child, the 3-year limitation period does not commence until he/she turns 18 years of age. There are also special rules for people who cannot manage their own affairs.
