Our Expertise
Alexander Harris is a national firm specialising exclusively in claimant health law and in particular catastrophic injury. We are recognised as a leading firm in this highly specialised area by other lawyers, the medical profession, the insurance industry and other relevant organisations including the Limbless Association.
It is quite possible that you have never had to consult a specialist solicitor before. You might have instructed a solicitor when you moved house or to prepare a will; or even for a minor injury claim. However catastrophic personal injury claims are quite different and it is vital that you have a solicitor with specialist expertise and experience. After all, the defendant is likely to instruct a specialist solicitor to deal with the claim and you need to be on an equal footing from the start.
We have handled many injury claims involving traumatic and surgical amputations through to a successful conclusion. This experience enables us to understand and plan for some of the challenges and difficulties encountered by our injured clients. We understand that all aspects of your life, school or work, family, relationships and recreation will have changed. Our understanding enables us to present any compensation claim in the fairest and most appropriate way. Choosing the right solicitor can not only help you through this difficult period but in some cases it can mean the difference between winning and losing your case or of many thousands of pounds compensation.
John's Story - From Demolition Site to the Royal Courts of Justice
John was renowned as one of the leading building demolition experts in London. Whilst working on a building site, John was struck by a bulldozer and sustained horrendous injuries to his leg. John was rushed by air ambulance to the hospital where unfortunately due to the severity of his injuries, surgical amputation below the knee was the only option. As a specialist in his own trade, John appreciated the need to seek expert legal advice. Returning to his family solicitor who prepared his Will and organised the sale of his house was not an option. A specialist catastrophic personal injury lawyer at Alexander Harris applied for an early interim payment to pay for essential adaptations and building work to his home. We successfully settled John's claim for in excess of £400,000.
Type of claims
We handle all types of catastrophic personal injury claims including:
- Road traffic accidents
- Criminal injuries compensation claims

- Clinical negligence
- Claims for military personnel

A Word of Caution - Time Limits
Generally claims for personal injury must be made within three years from the date of an accident, however this can vary if you are injured as a result of a criminal act or if you are injured whilst overseas. It is therefore vital that you contact a specialist solicitor as soon as possible.
Where the injured person is a child, the 3-year limitation period does not commence until he/she turns 18 years of age. There are also special rules for people who cannot manage their own affairs.
